I think I'd like a moo cow for a pet,
No cats or barking dogs would ever do,
A heifer would be wonderful, I bet!
I'd wake up every morning to the joyful sound of "moo!"
I'd never eat another piece of beef,
No veal - and oxtail soup would be a sin,
No need to cause my bovine housemate grief,
I'd gather up my steak knives and I'd throw them in the bin!
My cow would have the very best of vets,
We'd walk out in the parkland every day,
I'd laugh at all the other "mundane" pets,
Then take her home to eat her nightly fresh-mown bale of hay.
I'd decorate her room out like a farm,
And brush her hide till it was soft as silk,
My little cow would never come to harm,
I'd never watch a cooking show and never take her milk.
Perhaps I'll start a modern vegan trend?
Who needs to hear a yap yap or miaow?
With bovine pets the abbatoirs would end,
I hope one day that every house will have its own pet cow!
